banana fritters healthified ?!Few days ago, I drove past a food truck where I use to buy banana fritters weekly because it was so addictive. Since I was young I loved banana fritters, the crunchy coating on the outside and sweet melting bananas on the inside once you bite in... Mmmm. This traditional dessert will always be a Malaysian's favourite when it comes to street snack. As yummy as it sounds, it is something you don't want to eat daily because it is not the best for your health and body. As it is fried in deep hot oil that is high in saturated fats and coated with refined sugars and flours. This leads to a spike of insulin in which turns carbohydrates into fats to be stored in our body. High amount of saturated fats & sugar might also lead to high cholesterol and high blood sugar level. So I wanted to make a healthier version of banana fritters, then I came up with this recipe, replacing flour with protein powder, sugar with honey and also almond flour as the crunchy coating. Close enough for my sweet tooth! With the help of my latest kitchen gadget obsession, the Panasonic Cubie Oven. It totally replaces the need of an air fryer. My boyfriend has an air fryer at his home and we always use it to fry stuff with way less oil. I also have been bugging my mother to buy us an air fryer but oh well, guess we don't need that anymore! The Panasonic Cubie Oven has the function called healthy fry and I'm so excited to try it out for these healthy banana fritters! The benefits of using this healthy fry function is :
The hot air in the oven circulates the heat the food uniformly, turning them into crispy, healthy fried foods! The oven also has a list of auto menus, fried bananas is one of them so I don't have to worry about failing this recipe. Definitely consider using ripe bananas with spots almost forming because this makes it softer and more gooey! If using just ripen bananas, it wouldn't have the feeeeels of the usual banana fritters. Topped with coconut ice cream or yogurts! YUM! Healthy fry CRUNCHY ALMOND BANANA FRITTERSServes : 12 pieces
